Hot Springs
Three Unique Hot Spring options along the banks for Valley Creek! All with astounding views of the Sawtooth Mountains! Tubs are sourced by natural hot water that has been piped into man-made, pebble bottom pools. The water temp ranges from 98 – 104 depending on the time of year, and what Mother Nature is feeling like providing. Soaking times are by reservation only. Please read policies below.

“Sandhill Crane Hot Spring” and “Bluebird Hot Spring” are two new amazing features of Mountain Village Resort.
These 8′ x 8′ tubs are for private rent for up to ten guests each. Reservations can be made HERE or by calling our front desk at 800-843-5475.
Rates are $50 for two people and $5 for additional guests. Each tub room has a changing room and a small grass area.
“Osprey Hot Spring” has been a jewel of Mountain Village Resort for years. Up to eight Lodge Room Guests of Mountain Village resort receive free access to Osprey Hot Spring. Please note, private soaks are not guaranteed in this tub. Unavailability does not constitute a room refund.


HOT SPRINGS POLICIES
Please be mindful of other guests and abide by the scheduled and allotted time.
Reservations must be made to visit any hot spring tub.
Driving to the Hot Springs is prohibited regardless of the season.
All Hot Spring guests must be 18 years or older, or accompanied by an adult 18 years or older.
Pets are not allowed in any of the hot spring tubs or buildings.
Soaps, Shampoos, and Body Washes, including biodegradable soaps, are not permitted in the hot springs.
Please check in at the Mountain Village Lodge front desk.
The walk to all 3 hot springs is about 550 yards (~1/3 mile) from the Lodge. Please consider your fitness level before making a reservation.
While eating and drinking are allowed at the springs, glass containers are not allowed.
Please clean up your garbage. Trash receptacles are provided at each building.
Mineral water can tarnish jewelry. We advise everyone to remove any jewelry before entering.
Visibly intoxicated persons will not be permitted to use the hot tub.
Use of the hot tub by elderly persons, pregnant women, infants and toddlers, or those with health conditions requiring medical care is not recommended.
Hot water immersion while under the influence of alcohol, narcotics, drugs, or medicines may lead to serious consequences and/or injury and is strongly discouraged.
It is not recommended to use the hot tub alone.
Be advised that extended exposure may result in nausea, dizziness, or fainting.
Towels are available by request.
Mountain Village Resort is a family friendly facility, so No Nudity is allowed.

Are the springs wheelchair accessible? No
Where are you located? the Mountain Village Lodge is located near the intersection of Idaho highways 21 & 75. Please check in at the lodge front desk. The springs are about 550-yard hike away on the banks of valley creek. roughly 1/3 mile or 1/2 kilometer. Our address for GPS is 220 Eva Falls Avenue, Stanley, Idaho. We can instruct you on which path to take to walk to the springs.
Where does the water come from? Mother Earth
Do you add any chemicals? No, Mother Earth already provides plenty of minerals in the water.
Does the mineral water tarnish jewelry? Yes. We strongly encourage everyone to remove any jewelry before soaking.
Do you sell swimwear? No, but Riverwear does. www.riverwear.com/
Should we bring towels? You can bring you own towels. We also have towels at the front desk that you can take down with you.
Are there changing rooms at the springs? Yes, there is at least one changing room at each hot spring tubs.
Are there restrooms at the springs> There are not restrooms at the springs. The closest public restroom to the springs is at the restaurant.
Are there lockers at the springs? No, please feel free to keep your belongings in a backpack or reusable shopping bag.
Is food and drink allowed? Yes, just no glass containers.
Are the springs public? All three pools are located on MVR property and are not publicly accessible.
Who is allowed to go to the springs? Anyone can go that makes a reservation and pays the applicable fees. Hotel guests get priority access for the Osprey Spring.
How do I make a reservation? The Bluebird and Sandhill Crane Springs can be reserved on our website. The Osprey Spring can be reserved by calling 208-774-3661, or by stopping by the front desk.
Are children allowed at the springs? Yes, as long as they accompanied by an adult who will supervise them for the whole time they are near the springs and creek.
What is the cost to visit the springs. The Osprey Spring is free for hotel guests only. It costs $30 for the first two non-hotel guests. The Bluebird and Sandhill Crane Springs cost $50 for the first 2 people and $5 per person afterward.

When and how long are the reservation times? The Osprey Spring reservation times are at the top of each hour from 7 am to 10 pm and last one hour. The Bluebird and Sandhill Crane Springs reservation times are at the top of each hour from 7am to 8pm and last 90-minutes.
Are there opportunities for after-hours soaking at the springs? No, after-hours soakers are trespassing.
How many people can go to each reservation time? The Osprey Spring can hold up to 8 guests. The Bluebird and Sandhill Crane Springs can hold up to 10 guests.
Will strangers be joining our group? Many different groups may be using the osprey spring during each session. You will have strangers joining you. The Bluebird and Sandhill Crane Springs are kept private, so you will not have any strangers joining you.

What temperature are the springs? The temperature of the springs does vary, depending on the seasons, ambient air temperature, and what Mother Nature wants to give us. With that being said all 3 springs are usually around 100 degrees Fahrenheit (38 degrees C).
Who shouldn’t go to the springs. Elderly, pregnant, intoxicated, etc.
Can we drive to the hot springs? No, only authorized maintenance vehicles are allowed to drive to the hot springs.
Can we ski, snowshoe, or ride snowmobiles to the hot springs? Any over-snow travel is permitted during the winter months.
What should we wear to get to and from the springs? In winter you will want to bundle up for the trek to and from the springs. Good footwear, layers of clothing, coats, hats, and gloves are recommended. In summer light footwear and weather appropriate clothing is encouraged. High heeled or platform footwear is strongly discouraged.
Are there cameras at the hot springs. Yes, there are security cameras outside the hot spring buildings.
Do we need a key for the hot springs. The Osprey Spring is not locked during reservation times. it is locked overnight. The Bluebird and Sandhill Crane Springs are kept locked between reservations and you will need to pick up the keys at the MVL front desk.
Can we get a room refund if we can’t get make it to the springs? No. The unavailability of the springs is not a valid reason for a refund.
What is in the bottom of each hot spring pool? The bottom of each pool is gravel.
Are pets allowed at the springs? Pets are not allowed in any of the hot spring tubs or hot spring buildings.
Why do the hot springs smell so funky? Many of the minerals in the water have strong aromas, especially Sulphur.
Why do the elk stay near the hot springs in winter? Do they drink the water? The elk do not drink the hot mineral water. They like the field near the springs since the ground is warmer than normal and the snow doesn’t accumulate as much as other areas, making it easier for them to forage during the cold winter months.
Why do I see so many stars at night from the springs. Stanley and the Sawtooth Valley are part of the Central Idaho Dark Sky Reserve. There are policies in place to keep light pollution at a minimum to allow the best possible view of the night sky.
How long does it take to walk to the springs? It usually takes 5-10 minutes in the summer and 10-15 minutes in the winter.
Can we park at Sulphur Flats to go to the hot springs? No. Please do not park in our staff housing area.
Can we park on the other side of valley creek and cross the bridge to get to your springs? No
